Internal Medicine Department

Internal medicine is the medical specialism dedicated to the comprehensive care of sick adults and particularly to the clinical problems of the majority of patients admitted to a hospital.

Its objective is the comprehensive care of patients with health problems in a hospital. It provides specialist medical care ranging from prevention, diagnosis and treatment to palliative care, providing a service with professionalism, privacy and personalised care.

Its essential work lies in:

• The diagnosis of illnesses, principally complex conditions affecting several organs.
• Inpatient care, playing an essential role in the global analysis of the patient, taking into ac the possible medical conditions, thus to offer a complete solution to their problems.
• Continuity of care, in external consultations.
• Collaboration with the other professionals or departments as consultant and coordinator of the fundamental pathology and comorbidities of the patient.

The internist doctors in our department have studied in different areas in depth to ensure they are up to date with diagnostic and therapeutic advances in relation to conditions such as infections, autoimmune diseases, arteriosclerosis, thrombosis, etc.

External consultations take place from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 8 pm.
